What a LanePilot account does
LanePilot is the all-in-one freight and warehouse platform for shippers. On the freight side, it quotes live rates on your own carrier accounts, books the shipment, tracks it, and then checks the invoice that turns up weeks later against the quote you actually agreed to. When the two do not match, LanePilot tells you which line is wrong and roughly what it is worth.
What LanePilot looks for on an invoice
Every LTL invoice is priced from a quote, a tariff, and a list of accessorial charges, and any of the three can drift. LanePilot flags charges that never appeared on your quote, accessorials you did not authorize, fuel surcharges applied at the wrong rate, discounts that were negotiated but not applied, reweighs and reclassifications you were never told about, and the same shipment billed twice.
The villain here is billing complexity, not your carrier. Most of these are errors rather than bad faith, and they are recoverable when you can point to the discrepancy in writing.
What an audit needs from you
Two documents for the same shipment: the carrier invoice, and the original quote. The quote is not optional, and it is the part most tools skip. Without it there is no baseline, and an audit without a baseline is guesswork. It is the difference between saying a charge looks high and showing that you were quoted one number and billed another.
When you book through LanePilot the quote is already on file, so you stop supplying it by hand and every invoice is checked against it automatically.
What it costs
The Free plan includes 5 quote credits and 7 invoice audits every month, and never asks for a credit card. Paid plans start at $69 a month and add connected carriers, history, and recovery tooling as you go up. The full comparison is on the pricing page.
Who files the dispute
You do. Dispute letter generation is included on every plan, with a monthly allowance that starts at 2 a month on Free and is unlimited on Professional+ and above. LanePilot writes the letter for that invoice and you file it with the carrier yourself. LanePilot is a software tool, not a freight broker, and never contacts carriers on your behalf.
Want an answer before you create an account
Run the free invoice audit. Upload one carrier invoice and the original quote for that shipment, and read the findings on screen. No account, no card, five free audits per company.
Common questions
- Do I need a TMS before I can use LanePilot?
- No. LanePilot is the TMS and the WMS. It quotes, books, tracks and audits your freight, and runs receiving and inventory on the warehouse side, all in one place, so there is no separate system to integrate with first.
- Whose rates am I seeing?
- Your own. LanePilot quotes against your own carrier accounts using your credentials, so the numbers are the ones you negotiated rather than a market average.
- Why does an audit need the original quote?
- An invoice on its own only tells you what you were charged, never what you agreed to. The quote is the baseline every finding is measured against. When you book through LanePilot the quote is already on file, so you stop supplying it by hand.
