Cookie Policy
1What Cookies Are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your computer or mobile device. Websites use cookies to remember information about your visit. This helps the website work properly and helps the website remember your preferences.
LanePilot Technologies LLC ("LanePilot," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on LanePilotTech.com and within the LanePilot platform (together, the "Service"). This Cookie Policy explains what cookies we use, why we use them, and how you can control them.
This Cookie Policy applies to all visitors to and users of the Service. The Service is built for business users — freight coordinators, operations managers, and similar professionals at manufacturers, distributors, and shippers. The Service does not offer a consumer tier, and it is not directed at individuals under 18.
2Categories of Cookies LanePilot Uses
We group our cookies into four categories. Each category serves a different purpose.
A. Essential / Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies let the Service function. They include:
- Authentication session tokens, which keep you logged in as you move between pages
- CSRF (cross-site request forgery) protection tokens, which help block malicious requests made to look like they came from you
- Cloudflare Turnstile bot-detection tokens, which help confirm you are a human user and not an automated script
Essential cookies are required. You cannot disable them through our cookie-consent banner. Most essential cookies last for the length of your browsing session, up to a maximum of 24 hours, after which you may need to log in again.
B. Functional Cookies
These cookies remember choices you make so the Service feels consistent each time you return. They include cookies that store:
- Your display and UI preferences (for example, sidebar layout or table sort order)
- Account settings you have chosen
- Which subscription tier (Shipper, Professional, Professional+, Command, or Pause) is shown in your account interface
- Other UI state, such as which dashboard view you last used
Functional cookies last for up to 12 months. You can disable functional cookies through your browser or our cookie-consent banner. If you disable them, parts of the Service may not work as smoothly — for example, the Service may not remember your preferences between visits.
C. Analytics Cookies
These cookies help us understand how users interact with the Service so we can improve it. We use PostHog, a third-party product analytics provider, to collect:
- Page views
- Feature usage events (for example, which tools you use most)
- Session behavior, such as click patterns and time spent in the platform
We use this data for product analytics, to track user activation (how quickly new users reach key milestones), and to measure customer satisfaction through Net Promoter Score (NPS) surveys. Analytics cookies last for up to 24 months. You can disable analytics cookies through our cookie-consent banner without losing access to the Service.
D. Security / Bot Protection Cookies
These cookies protect the Service and its users from abuse. We use Cloudflare to set cookies and similar identifiers that support:
- DDoS (distributed denial-of-service) protection
- Fraud prevention
- Rate limiting, which prevents automated systems from overwhelming our servers
These cookies may include IP-based fingerprinting, which Cloudflare uses to distinguish legitimate traffic from malicious or automated traffic. Security and bot-protection cookies last for up to 30 days. Because these cookies protect the Service and its users from attacks and abuse, we treat them as necessary and they cannot be disabled through the cookie-consent banner.
3Third-Party Cookie Vendors
Some cookies on the Service are placed by third-party vendors we work with, not directly by LanePilot. The main third-party cookie vendors are:
- Cloudflare — sets security, bot-detection, and edge-performance cookies described in Sections 2(A) and 2(D) above.
- PostHog — sets analytics cookies described in Section 2(C) above.
These vendors' own privacy and cookie policies govern how they process the data collected through their cookies, in addition to this Policy. We encourage you to review Cloudflare's and PostHog's privacy policies for more detail about their practices.
A complete list of LanePilot's sub-processors, including Cloudflare and PostHog, appears in our Privacy Policy.
4How to Manage Cookies
You have two main ways to control cookies on the Service.
Cookie-consent banner. When you first visit LanePilotTech.com, we show you a cookie-consent banner. You can use this banner to accept or decline non-essential cookies (functional and analytics cookies). We respect the choice you make in the banner. You can change your choice at any time by clearing your cookies and revisiting the Service, which will trigger the banner again.
Browser-level controls. Most web browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings menus. You can usually choose to block all cookies, block third-party cookies only, or delete cookies after each session. Check your browser's help documentation for instructions, since the steps differ by browser and device.
What happens if you disable cookies. If you disable essential cookies, you will not be able to log in or use the Service, because these cookies are required for authentication and basic security. If you disable functional or analytics cookies, the Service will still work, but some features may not remember your preferences, and we will not be able to measure how the Service is used to improve it.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting, and some browsers or browser extensions send a "Global Privacy Control" (GPC) signal. LanePilot does not currently respond to either DNT or GPC signals, because there is no common industry standard for how websites should interpret DNT, and LanePilot has not yet implemented GPC recognition. We do, however, respect the choice you make in our cookie-consent banner, as described above.
5Local Storage and Similar Technologies
In addition to cookies, the Service may use browser local storage and similar technologies to store some functional and session-related data directly on your device. We treat local storage and similar technologies the same way we treat functional cookies for purposes of this Policy. This means the same retention expectations and the same disable options described in Section 2(B) and Section 4 apply.
6Changes to This Policy
LanePilot may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example, to reflect a new analytics tool or a change in how we use cookies. If we make a material change, we will give you at least 30 days' notice before the change takes effect. We will provide notice by posting an updated version of this Policy on the Service and updating the "Effective" date at the top of this document, and by emailing registered users at the business email address on file if the change is material.
If you continue using the Service after a material change takes effect, you accept the updated Policy. If you do not agree with a material change, you should stop using the Service before the change takes effect and may contact [email protected] with any questions.
7Relationship to Privacy Policy
This Cookie Policy supplements LanePilot's Privacy Policy and is incorporated into it by reference. The Privacy Policy describes, in greater detail, the categories of personal data LanePilot collects, why LanePilot collects it, who LanePilot shares it with, and the rights available to you. Where this Cookie Policy and the Privacy Policy both address cookies, this Cookie Policy controls for cookie-specific questions, and the Privacy Policy controls for all other data-practice questions.
